( Mt. Vernon) After teaching high school art for fifteen years, Cindy left the classroom in 2004 to pursue full-time studio work. Her career as an artist began as a painter, but about 15 years ago she started to work more and more with clay. Now she often finds herself approaching clar as a canvas, exploring lines, shapes and textures and applying glazes in layers like paint. Working in stoneware and terra cotta, she makes both functional and sculptural pieces.
