Galand Nuchols (Mount Pleasant) spent twenty-four years teaching before retiring to take up writing. Since, she has published three novels for middle grade readers, plus short stories in anthologies. She spends a lot of time working with the food pantry in Mount Pleasant, teaching parenting classes, and has helped on a number of Habitat for Humanity houses. Gay Ingram ( Big Sandy) has been writing for twenty years. She has published 5 books, split between fiction and non-fiction, plus dozens of articles. Jim Ainsworth (Campbell) was a CPA, CFP and CLU before turning to writing. He has published five novels. His 2007 novel Rivers Ebb was a finalist in the Writers’ Digest International Book Contest, and a finalist for the Violet Crown Award given by the League of Texas Writers. Charlotte Sherman ( Pittsburg) Published 37 novels during her writing career. Now, however, she helps her husband, Jory, prepare the many novels he writes each year. Charlotte is a member of the Northwest Texas Writers’ Organization ( NETWO) www.NETWO.org
NETWO – ( North East Texas Writers Organization) is a group of Northeast Texas area residents interested in the craft of creative writing, or the support of that endeavor. We accept all members, regardless of age or persuation, in the belief that variety enhances learning. Included in the group are writers of fiction, non-fiction, poetry, scripts and journalism. Many of the members of NETWO have been published, but many have not. Some of the activities include critique sessions, lectures, book signings, publishing, and writers’ workshops.
Meetings are held on the second Thursday of each month at 5:30 pm, usually at Appleby’s in Mt Pleasant. In addition, some members gather on Saturdays at noon for lunch at the Pizza Inn in Pittsburg. This is more of a social meeting with discussions on writing, events, short readings by a participant when it comes up. Non-members are welcome at the monthly meeting and the Saturday gatherings. Jory Sherman (Pittsburg) has had more than 350 books published, ranging from poetry to mysteries, science fiction, literary novels, and his current works – westerns. He has been awarded the Spur Award, and nominated for a Pulitzer Prize in Literature. In addition, Jory has taught writing in a number of colleges and universities, and gives classes periodically here in northeast Texas. He is a member of the Northeast Texas Writers’ Organization (NETWO).
